About Us
Who Are We?
Our church is made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences. We are a family-friendly congregation with a long standing history in Lismore.
This makes for a rich mix of relationships and great depth of wisdom that can be shared between generations.
Some of the things that we value as a church are:
- listening to God through His word (the Bible);
- responding to God in prayer (as individuals and together as a church);
- learning how we can better love God and the people in our lives;
- praising God through a range of great hymns and songs;
- encouraging one another in our walk with Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
What is Our Mission?
Our mission as a church is to love and glorify God, love one another, and make and nurture disciples of Jesus.
What is Our Vision for Our Church?
Our vision is to be a family-friendly, Bible centred church of all ages who love God, preach Christ, and serve one another and our community in practical, loving ways.
We believe it is the Holy Spirit who convicts people of sin and brings them to faith and repentance. Only through the work of the Holy Spirit is the believer able to live a holy life that is pleasing to God.What We Believe
In short – we believe the Bible. But if you’ve come to this page to find out what we believe then that simple statement probably won’t cut it for you.
So…. you may want to look at the Westminster Confession of Faith – it’s our subordinate (under the Bible) standard or statement of belief. But it’s also quite a big document, so we’ve put some smaller statements here below that should give you a much more concise idea of what we believe.
Theologically we are a Reformed Evangelical church. Our core beliefs are:
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return in person and that he will then bring the full consummation of the Kingdom of God
- We believe in the divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture (the Bible) and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- We believe there is one God in whom there are three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternally existing, only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
- We believe all people are sinful by nature since the Fall and are thereby justly subject to the judgement of God.
- We believe that salvation from the penalty of sin is found only through the substitutionary atoning death of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his one true sacrifice that we can have forgiveness of sin & receive the gift of eternal life.
- We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
- We believe it is the Holy Spirit who convicts people of sin and brings them to faith and repentance. Only through the work of the Holy Spirit is the believer able to live a holy life that is pleasing to God.
- We believe in the one holy universal church, the body of Christ, to which all true believers belong.
